You don't need to have life's "must-haves"

Why do we need to have a bigger house? Why must we have a nice car or achieve what others have? Why do I need to be what people expect me to be? Is this what life is really all about? The more I travel and observe people from all walks of life, the more I’m convinced that there is more to life than what society wants us to believe. There are other roads besides the roads taken by the majority. There are other ways to live; there is a higher purpose for your life than to simply exist. King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, once wrote advice for his son: “And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” We can choose to live simply and not burden our hearts with so many demands in this life as dictated by social media. When we live simply, we are removing the endless cycle of materialism that can enslave us for the rest of our lives. We can break free from society’s conditioning and choose to live life with a purpose greater than just accumulating stuff we will one day leave behind. We can live for others rather than just for ourselves. We can choose to live life with meaning. Are you being pressured to live for all the “stuff” others say you must have?
