What will be written on your epitaph?

I was called “morbid” sometimes because I love reading epitaphs in the cemeteries. I always wondered about the legacy each life had left in their brief time on earth. I love thinking about the last phrase or word a person who died has left behind. The inscription on their tombstone tells me everything about how they lived. It is how they are remembered after they were gone. When I think about this, it makes me wonder how I am going to live my short life. How do I want to be remembered? King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, said, “It is better to go to a funeral than to a party. We all must die, and everyone living should think about this.” (Ecclesiastes 7:2)

What does this teach us? That life is transient and how we will be remembered is the sum total of our life. Thinking deeply on this, I asked myself how do I want to be remembered when I die by those who know me? How will your children describe your memories? How will those who have travelled with you in this life remember you? What will be written on your epitaph?
