What does autumn teach us?

Here comes autumn! My favourite season is when leaves start to fall from the trees that have held on to them for so many months. These leaves adorn each tree with a sense of pride and joy, and yet the trees happily let go of each leaf when it’s time for them to fall. Autumn teaches us that letting go is a beautiful thing. I call this time of year the season of letting go. It works its wonders every time it reassures us that there is a time for letting go of every attachment on earth: a time to release our anger and grudges, a time to pass on our most treasured possessions to the next generation, and a time to give away love, joy, peace, and kindness to a world in need. A time to just let go and let life happen. This reminds me of a wonderful friend for whom I pray each day as she goes through a very difficult time in her life. The pain she is experiencing must be hard for anyone to understand, but God knows each of her pains and has noted all her tears. The book of Psalms says: God keeps track of all our sorrows. He has collected all our tears in a bottle; He recorded each one in His book. Here I share what I told her so you can also thank God for this season of letting go. Trust God and leave Him all your worries, doubts, and even the questions you have in your heart—your whys and why me’s. One day, God will make it plain to you. You will see that your life is beautiful because of all your scars. Are you holding on to something that you need to let go?
