This season's main event

The busyness of the Christmas season can sometimes weigh heavily on us. Shopping for gifts and deciding what to prepare for the Christmas meal is a never-ending yearly chore for many busy families. However, if we take a moment to think deeply about why we celebrate this season, we may be shocked to realize that the reason for this celebration has nothing to do with all the things we buy, the traditions we try to maintain, or the parties we feel we must have! The main event of this season is the incarnation of the Son of God, who came to reveal to us what God is like and deliver us from our sins! It’s the greatest news of all to understand this profound truth: that God, the Creator of all things, came in the flesh to show us the Father and give us a glimpse of the nature and character of the invisible God, ultimately providing a way for lost humanity to find their way back to God and reconnect with the relationship we lost because of our sins. The reason for this season is Jesus Christ. It may not be the exact date or even season, but the story remains the central truth of why we celebrate Christmas. The main event should be a thanksgiving service for His coming! It is not about what I could get as a present this Christmas or whether the Christmas meal will be amazing, but whether I know Jesus Christ, the main reason for this season!
