Something greater

After all is said and done, when we have exhausted all that life has to offer us, we come to realize that there is something far greater than even life itself. Most people you ask will tell you they believe there’s “something.” This is the unexplained longing within our souls. This is what makes us restless inside; this is the emptiness within, the ache we feel deep in our hearts. There is something greater, and that is finding the author of life and knowing Him, the God who made us for Himself and created everything around us. This is the God of all creation who is offering us “something greater”—a relationship with Him, an invitation to know Him and His ways, and to choose to walk with Him in this life. The knowledge of God and the fear of God are the beginning of wisdom. We enter life devoid of this understanding. The search for this “something” begins the moment we feel the need to be happy and satisfied. Yet, we try to find this in all the wrong places: riches and fame, relationships, power, and even drugs. Yet in the end, we all find ourselves empty and unsatisfied. We are restless until we find our rest in God Himself. He is our ultimate home. He is the “One” who is greater than anything in this life. Knowing Him is the greatest thing in this world. We see the demonstration of the love of God for us on the cross. He demonstrated His great love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. His death opened up a way for us to be reconnected to God, offering us forgiveness of sins, enabling us to walk with God again and be recreated in His image. This was our original design—we were created in His image, but sin has prevented us from living our lives according to His will and from reflecting His character, His beauty, His image in us. But Christ came to save us from our sins. He is offering you and me the chance to have a relationship with Him again, back to what it was like before sin entered the human race. Will you choose “something” greater?
