There is much to be said when it comes to forgiveness. For most of us, no matter how difficult, we try to forgive other people for the evil they have done to us. The offense and the hurt may have imprisoned us, giving us a hard time for many years until we learn to let go of grudges and forgive others for the wrongs done to us. We also have little issue accepting forgiveness when others forgive us, no matter how much pain we have caused them. This can overwhelm us at times, seeing this kind of astonishing love and forgiveness. This also draws us upward, encouraging us to look to God and reflect on His forgiveness—the God who sees all that we have done to Him, all our rebellion and willful disobedience, and yet lovingly forgave us and cleansed us from all sins. He said He blotted it all out and declared us righteous because it is now the righteousness of Christ imputed upon us that He sees, not our sins.
After experiencing the forgiveness of God and the forgiveness of those we have hurt, we are often left unconsciously still beating our own hearts for the sins we committed. Sometimes we tend to look back on our sins again and again. This can sometimes depress us and make us feel we are never going to be good enough. But the truth is that none of us will ever be good enough, for all of us have fallen short of the glory of God! None of us is ever qualified to be acceptable to God or to serve Him in any capacity. It is only because of the grace of God that we are able to be and to do anything. His goodness, not ours, is what we must focus on, because we have no goodness in us. No matter how dark and dirty your sins have made you feel in the past, remember, it has all been blotted out and God has made you clean. He said He removed our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west. No matter the darkness of the stains, God has blotted them out. Realizing this is crucial for you to learn to experience genuine freedom from sin and to walk humbly with God, living in victory each day. Learn to forgive yourself when others have forgiven you. God has forgiven you. Is it time that you say goodbye to your past and forgive yourself?
