Slowing down helps you notice the moment.
Slowing down helps you notice the moment.

When things are put in slow motion, we can start to notice their details. A fast-moving object, when put in slow motion, enables us to see the details of its movement and notice the things we missed because it was moving too fast. This is exactly the same with our lives. When we are too busy, we don’t notice our days. We miss the beautiful moments of life—slow mornings when you just listen to the voice inside your heart, precious times in the early morning hours with God, listening to His voice through His words. I’m at my happy place at the moment, just sitting contentedly, watching God paint the hills as the sun rises this morning. Its enigmatic reflection on the lake beneath takes my breath away. The changes in colors are captured beautifully in the stillness of the water. I am at peace, my heart calm and happy.

It’s amazing how God’s creation drowns out the noise from your soul. It has the power to still your heart and calm you down. For a moment, you forget what’s going on around you and simply behold God Himself. His goodness and mercy overwhelm your soul. Slow living helps you see God and see others beyond yourself. Living too fast makes you miss the important details of life: the sweet smile of your little one, the heartfelt laughter of your friends, the soft embrace of the morning breeze, and the smell of your coffee. Why don’t you try to deliberately slow down your life? Try to listen more and observe more. Look up at the sky at night and watch the stars. Look intently at the flowers, feel the air you breathe, and sip your coffee slowly. Live your life slowly. Are you living too fast?
