One life

What can one life do? How does one life impact so many other lives? How many years must one live before this one life becomes a force for good? We only get one shot at life, and I believe it is important to live it wisely. If we only have one life, then we only have one lifetime to pass through life’s paths, and we won’t be able to go through all of it! We choose our path for the one life we have. Only one life, and one day it will be gone. But then it is not just one life because in this one life lies unlimited possibilities to make a difference in the lives of a few, or many, depending on how much investment one makes. But isn’t one life worth more than the whole world already, as Jesus said: “What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul?” Perhaps changing the world starts with changing one life. Making a difference in the life of a child or helping a troubled teenager find his way. In my many years of mission work in Asia, I sometimes wonder whether I'm making any significant change in the situation of the millions of trafficked children around the world, but I find consolation in knowing that somehow, touching just one life and making a difference in that one life is all that matters. What about you? What are you doing with your life?
