Living in the moment means striving to be present at every moment of life. Nowadays, social media has disconnected us from our experiences. Our obsession with social media engagement desensitizes us to our surroundings. Observe couples or families having meals together at a restaurant. You will notice that, although they are trying to bond and have quality time together, they are preoccupied with their phones, each staring at their screens instead of savoring the moment and engaging with one another. This is a sad reality. Living in the moment is becoming increasingly challenging. We must make a conscious decision to be present and choose to live in the moment. To live in the moment is to intentionally disconnect from your phone and focus solely on the person you are speaking to at any given moment. Focus on the person you are with and truly listen to them. The Bible says we must be quick to listen and slow to speak. Practice observing the people around you, appreciate the beauty of nature, and genuinely enjoy moments of peace, tranquility, and joy. Be present. Can you leave your phone in your bag when talking with someone? The book of Psalms talks about learning to number our days so we can gain a heart of wisdom. To number our days is to learn to cherish each moment and live it with joy. How committed are you to living in the moment?
