Each one of us has been given gifts and talents that are meant to give our existence purpose and meaning. They are also given to honor God through our lives with those gifts. These unique talents and gifts distinguish us from others and indicate our life’s purpose. God will provide us with the gifts that align with the purpose of our lives. When we honor these gifts, we are honoring the giver.Eric Liddell was a Scottish runner known as the "Flying Scotsman" because of how fast he ran. He was famous for refusing to run on a Sunday at the Olympic Games and was willing to give up his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be an Olympic winner. He was approached by the authorities and the then Prince of Wales, but he never wavered in his stand. As a result, he was given another chance to run a longer marathon, one he hadn’t trained for, just so people could see him run. He earned the respect of those in authority because of his principles and his commitment to what he believed. He won the race. When asked why he loved to run, he said God made him fast, and when he ran, he felt God’s pleasure! What an amazing realization! When we use our gifts and operate on the talents God has given us, God is honored and pleased! How about you? Have you ever felt that God has given you something that only your life can accomplish? It’s like a calling or a purpose. Are you honoring God through your gifts and talents?
