To die is gain.

Charlie Kirk was assassinated yesterday at 31 years old. He was a courageous young man who knew how to stand for his faith and for what he believed. He was an apologist at his best. He inspired millions of young people to be bold as a lion and stand up for Christ. This young man lived more in his 31 years than many of the previous generation before him. This reminds us of another passionate young missionary named Jim Elliot. He was savagely martyred by the cannibals in Ecuador while attempting to share the Gospel with the Auca people on January 8th, 1956. His famous quote still inspires me to this day: “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” Many of us today were shocked and appalled to hear of what happened to a society capable of killing a moral young family man in broad daylight. But this shows the depravity of human nature and how low our morality has become. Some of his opponents were rejoicing over his death—those who debated him, defending their perverse ways. Charlie Kirk stood for the rights of the unborn, openly defended the biblical stand on sexuality and marriage, and made enemies doing so. But Jesus clearly said to us that if the world hates Him, they will also hate us who believe and stand for the truth. It is the truth that the world hates. The Bible reveals the truth and therefore is hated by those who hate the truth. The Gospel proclaims the truth and therefore is hated by those who do not want to accept it. We live in a world where the truth is being vanished and hated. As believers, we must not be surprised by this but know that the Lord promised to be with us in times of persecution. It is time to rise up as believers and stand firm for our faith, the most real thing in this world for anyone to possess. Even if it means death to our physical body, it will never be in vain. Rather, he who dies for the cause of Christ can say with the apostle Paul: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” What the enemy meant for evil, the Lord always meant for good.
