Success is like the tip of the iceberg. This is what most people see when they look at successful people. They never see what is underneath. Few people realise what makes for an iceberg to become big enough to be seen from the ocean. What’s underneath are the long hours of perseverance and commitments and many repeated failures and mistakes. Underneath the tip of the iceberg were days or months of desperation and possibly years of persistence and pressing on even when all you want to do was to give up. Whenever we see the pinnacle of success, let us also remind ourselves what it took to get there. To look at success realistically is to be prepared for its cost and to embrace it with open arms knowing that success is not an instant event which happens all of a sudden. It is that daily struggle for survival and the courage to persist and carry on despite discouragements and failures. Success never comes easy but its rewards are endless, if only you are brave enough to grab it. What do you see when you think of success?
