There must be more than this

There must be more than all that this world is offering us. There must be more beyond the rubble of fame and prestige, pleasure and wealth. There must be more than the empty world of extreme and lavish lifestyles. When all the things that money can buy disappear, when we have exhausted all that wealth and power can provide, what is left for a man to amass? Is there an end to all this?

Surely there must be more than all this. When all is said and done, one realizes that life does not consist of accumulating wealth and gaining power. There is no end to greed. It is a trap that enslaves those who fall into its allure. In the end, we all seek a deeper meaning to our endeavors. We want our lives to matter. We want to make a difference. The richest of all people are those who can sleep peacefully at night, knowing that their lives have touched someone and their wealth has impacted others who are less fortunate. Contentment is a great gain. If we can live simply, others can simply live. This, here, is where life’s meaning is found. It is in the giving of oneself that true life is discovered.
