Light on your path

How many times have you attempted to proceed with your plans despite the risks? Have you ever wondered why, sometimes, even with doubts and uncertainties lying ahead, you have the courage to continue in a certain direction?

When we do not know what to do next or are unsure about a certain course of action, we feel a nudge inside, a kind of “gut feeling” that tells us it is okay to carry on. Sometimes, it is like an inner voice of caution or warning that we feel, some kind of unease about a decision we have made. What are these? Why do we have this “check” inside of us? God created us with spirit and conscience. We are not all “physical” beings. We have a soul. This is the “mystery” inside us that we know too well, lying awake at night, thinking about the future or what happens to us after death. The book of Psalms says that the Lord is a light unto our path.  Jesus Christ is the light of the world. He is also life. In Him we find truth. He is also the way to eternal life. When we believe in Jesus, this light is lit inside us. This is what guides our path in life. But it requires faith to follow the light that guides our steps. This light or “guidance” does not illuminate until we need to enter a certain path. Until then, our path is dark. Like we do not know our future. It’s all dark for us. But God is the light on our path. He lights it only when we are about to take that step. This is faith. Do you remember the movie Indiana Jones, where Jone’s faith was tested before he could cross the valley to the other side without a visible bridge? He discovered that there was indeed a bridge to cross to the other side, but it was invisible until he took the step of faith. As soon as he stepped onto the invisible path, it became visible to him! This is similar to us when we are taking a step of faith. Will you take this step so you can see your path ahead?
