Sometimes, when you are looking forward to a big event in your life—your big day, your holiday—you tend not to notice how your everyday life is passing by. You miss your moments, your daily experiences, your fleeting memories with the people you love because your eyes are looking too far ahead—for your next big break, next vacation, next promotion. Focusing too much on your future can rob you of today. Learn to be present. Learn to live today. Didn’t Jesus remind us not to worry about tomorrow, for sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof? Jesus taught us to live in the present, to cherish every day and live it as if it’s our last. When we do this, we can learn how to slow down our lives. We can take a minute to pause and be quiet in our hearts. We can notice the flowers as they bloom for the first time. We can feel the sand beneath our feet as we walk barefoot along the seashore. We can start to feel. We can start to live life instead of just passing it by. Don’t just pass through life. You are meant to live it. And to live it to its fullest, you must live—not barely getting through, but with all your might, with all the passion and energy you can muster. Live it, make the most of what it offers you, be the best you can be, and give the best of yourself to what truly matters in life—first to God and then to your fellow human beings. Live fully today. Is your everyday just passing you by?
