When it comes to treating other people, it is the way and manner of our treatment that matters more than the gesture. We each have our own way of treating other people. Our treatment of another human being reveals who we are inside as a person. It is a reflection of who we are and what kind of person we have become as we experience life with all its challenges and triumphs. Our treatment of others reflects our true character. If we treat others based on their status in life, we become discriminatory. If the way we deal with someone higher up in life differs from the way we treat the poor or the lowly, then this reveals what we are. Jesus said, “Do unto others what you want others to do unto you.” This is the ultimate principle when it comes to treating other people. We must treat others the same way we want to be treated. This way, we can be more sensitive and considerate. Let us be kind to others for we never know what they are going through. Will you treat other people differently when what you do to them will impact who you are? How will you treat other people if you put yourself in their shoes?
