Sometimes the hardest thoughts are those of our past mistakes—the wrong choices we’ve made and the decisions we made out of necessity rather than choice. When we look back, these choices become painful to recount. We won’t be able to turn back time and change the choices we have already made. They become painful memories of the past that can steal our present and rob us of our future. The Bible speaks of God offering redemption even for all the bad choices we have made in life. He can make all things work together for good. This promise belongs to those who love Him. As humans, we are bound to make mistakes. The choices we make in life will not always be the right ones. However, dwelling on our past mistakes and drowning in thoughts of the wrong choices will not be healthy for you—neither for your physical health nor for your mental and spiritual well-being. Learning to leave the mistakes of the past behind will help you appreciate the present moments God is giving you. Moving on from those bad choices and looking forward to applying the lessons learned will give you a future filled with hope and prospects. Have you been punishing yourself for the wrong choices you made in the past? Could it be that today is the time to move on from those past mistakes and look closely with joy at your present moment, knowing that you can never change the past, then smile at a future you can still change?
