Living on borrowed time

We are only on borrowed time. What would you do if you knew your time was running out? If we are sitting in an exam, we try to focus on answering the important questions only—those that carry the most weight. If we are catching a train, we run as fast as we can to catch it. If we are running out of time before the game ends, we do our best to be on the winning side, calculating our moves to contribute to victory. But what if your life is running out of time? What would you do? What would you do if you were running out of time to show your parents how much you love and value them? What would you do when your chances are getting slimmer by the minute as you try to save your marriage or a friendship from breaking apart? What would you do if you only had one year to live, or perhaps months, or even just a few days? What are the things in your life right now that you would drop? What are the few things you would try to pick up? Where would you go back to? What would you do last? What would you do if you knew you were on borrowed time and the lease was ending soon? Life is like a lease; we only have a certain amount of borrowed time with it. One day, the clock will stop. What would you pack when you can only take what’s important to you and have a limited amount of time to get it all in? Life is brief. As for man, his days are like grass—he blooms like a flower of the field. Here today and gone tomorrow. What are you doing with your borrowed time?
