Enjoying the passage of time

The elusive nature of time and how it waits for no one makes life a very fragile existence. If we cannot go back to our past or make future moments come any quicker, then life as we know it only has this present moment for us. This time, right now, is all we have. What is life? The Bible speaks of the fragility of life. It says that life is like grass, which is now in the field and is burned tomorrow. It compares life to a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. If this is the nature of time and our life is encapsulated by it, then living one day at a time is the best way to live our lives. Jesus said, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” This is a radical way to live because society bombards us every day with what we could have been or what we should be in the future. It forces us to want more and to worry about a future that does not belong to us. Life, as it flows with the passage of time, must be enjoyed and appreciated. It must be seized and cherished like it’s the only one we’ve got. For who knows if we will have another moment tomorrow? Are you learning to enjoy the passage of time as you live your life?
