Christianity is not merely the recitation of creeds or the following of dogmas and rituals. It is a life of freedom found in the person of Jesus Christ, the lover of our souls. We have found true freedom in Him—freedom from the power of sin and death. Yet, finding this freedom means that we have also become imprisoned with Christ. We have gladly become prisoners of Christ. We have locked ourselves within His will, and we have volunteered to do this because of our love for Him. The greatest paradox in Christianity is that we have been set free to be prisoners of His loving will. Delighting in the will of God and understanding the depth of its power to transform your life is the greatest discovery in your walk with God. The one thing humanity has resisted throughout history is doing what God wills versus doing what one wills. Sin, in essence, is doing what we want. Surrendering your life to Jesus Christ is the first step to finding freedom from the bondage of sin. Being a slave to sin and to the desires of the flesh, we are like prisoners, enslaved to its bidding. But through Christ, we have been set free from this and have gladly entered the prison of His will. We delight in doing His will, for within this prison is the greatest freedom we can ever know—the freedom to finally do the will of God with joy! Are you struggling to do the will of God?
