A life that keeps on giving

The rule of nature is always to be a life that keeps on giving. Watch the sun as it shines for everyone in this world; it never shines for itself. Look at the trees; they bear fruit not for themselves but for those around them. Watch the flowers as they spread their beauty and fragrance, again, not for themselves but for all the passersby! This is the rule of nature: to exist to be a blessing to others. Jesus said that the golden rule of life is to do unto others as you would want others to do unto you. He also said that there is no greater love than this: that a man lay down his life for his friend. We might not be asked to completely give our lives for another, but through our everyday sacrifices and the giving up of our time and resources to benefit another human being, we are laying down our lives for them. To live for something, one must first find something to die for. A life of giving is a life of multiplied joy and happiness. When we learn to look outside of ourselves, we find our life’s meaning there. You wake up each morning with a sense of purpose and direction because your life is making a difference in the life of another. When we live to make other people happy, our happiness will be multiplied a thousand times! Are the people around you happy because of you?
